Safety & Security

White Settlement ISD continuously evaluates and implements safety measures to enhance security and provide the safest environment for our students, staff and families.  White Settlement ISD has a police officer at every school as well as two security officers. The WSISD Safety, Security and Emergency Management Director oversees the district's security measures, which include regular perimeter and door checks to ensure that all school facilities are secure,  The Guardian program enables WSISD educators to be trained and evaluated to carry concealed firearms on school facilities. Guardians receive extensive training alongside local law enforcement, with the goal of denying an intruder entry into a classroom or school facility.

WSISD prioritizes the funding of safety initiatives, which includes but is not limited to:

  • additional camera systems district-wide;
  • police training, gear, and vehicles; and
  • a doorbell intercom systems at every facility with both audio and visual capability, ensuring that all campuses are fully secured during the school day.

WSISD uses Standard Response Protocol (SRP) based on four actions: Hold, Secure, Lockdown, Evacuate and Shelter. SRP provides a common language for both schools and local law enforcement agencies. Click here for more details.The district takes a proactive approach to student safety by providing the support staff and programs necessary to support the mental wellness of all students. All schools use Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports to ensure all students are supported socially and behaviorally, and they teach the BEARS Matrix – Be Trustworthy, Empathetic, Accountable, Respectful, and Safe.
