Principal Profile

Hello North Families!

My name is Jennifer Byrd.  I am honored to be the Principal at North Elementary STEAM Academy.  

This will be my 19th year career in education.  I began my career at North Elementary, teaching ESL and first grade for seven years combined.  I was also an assistant principal at North for five years and two years at the Fine Arts Academy before I took some time off to stay home with my children.

I returned to education as an interventionist in Weatherford ISD and was an Assistant Principal and Principal in Peaster ISD before returning to WSISD in December as the Academic Advisor at Brewer High School.

I have a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education from Texas Christian University and a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies from Stephen F. Austin State University.

I have been married to my wonderful husband, Michael, for 26 years. We have two children in college.  Our daughter is a senior at Texas A&M and our son is a freshman and football player at Austin College.

I am so excited to be back at North Elementary STEAM Academy, where I started my career as an educator!  I believe in partnering with every family to help their child succeed and become all they can be.  At North, we are committed to providing engaging lessons and activities for all students to learn and be successful.

I am thrilled to come back to North and be a part of ALL the amazing things the campus has to offer for our students and families!
